This is a new business offering what I believe is a seldom avaliable service to take advantage of. My services offer an alternative to having to store boxes of samples or visit the sample library to access cuttings from offset wells. My goal is to give Geologists an easy and timely way to have offset information at hand for easy reference. The time saved will be time well spent elsewhere.
Geological Sample Files
Sample files are a great way to keep rock samples handy for offset well information. You can keep samples from numerous wells without having alot of boxes to store. They can be made to cover an entire well, or just zones of interest. Given the information, formation tops and show intervals can be marked. We can also split the samples into new envelopes/boxes if requested.
Digital Microscopy
Digital microscopy can be done using your well cuttings. I use a Leica EZ4D 3.0 MegaPixel Digital Microscope with 8x - 35x magnification. Can be done 640x480 to 2048 x 1536 resolution. Samples are washed and pictures taken in 10' intervals. Given the information, multiple pictures can be taken for porosity, tops/transition and hydrocarbon show intervals with emphasis on hydrocarbon bearing rocks. Pictures will be labeled with company name, well name and depth interval. they can be saved as TIFF, JPEG or BMP file as per request and saved onto CDs to be labeled and shipped.

Gunn Oil Company has utilized Geoworks for construction of petrofiles from well cuttings. This is a valuable service and is an important time-saver when examining well cuttings.
